WF&B recycling center in works Wisconsin Film and Bag, which
expanded into the former Komatsu building last month, confirmed
Wednesday its new space will soon become an industrial plastic film
recycling center. “I anticipate we will be setting the equipment into place probably in
the March-April time frame,” said Jim Feeney, president of Wisconsin
Film and Bag, Inc. Feeney confirmed information released by Gov. Jim Doyle’s office this
week, stating the Shawano manufacturer will get a $1.8 million
low-interest loan from the State Energy Program, which is funded through
the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The stimulus funding loan will be combined with the company’s own
cash for a total $4.7 million investment expected to create 29 jobs over
the next three years. The company has 118 employees. Feeney said there is still some paperwork to be done relating to the
funding for the new recycling center, but he said he expects that to be
taken care of by the end of the month. He said the company would hold an
open house at the recycling center for employees and customers some time
in the spring. The recycling center will convert post-consumer plastic scrap
materials into resin pellets to use in the film and bag-making facility.
The company will purchase new equipment for the center that will permit
the recycling of 8,000 tons of plastic film scrap. |
